CADAS is a service for people living in the Dorset PCT area affected by alcohol, illegal drugs and/or prescribed drugs. Self-referral is encouraged, but individuals can also be referred, with their agreement, by GPs, other professionals, friends or family members.
CADAS is a confidential, easily accessible service, which offers help and support to those who want to reduce their use of drugs and/or alcohol, as well as those who want to be abstinent.
The team at CADAS are drawn from a variety of professional backgrounds and are all trained to help people with drug and alcohol related problems. They are able to see clients at the Dorchester office, GP surgeries, other local service bases or at home if required.
CADAS can offer:
- Counselling, advice and support for people affected by alcohol or drugs
- Community and inpatient detoxification
- Support through GP and Nurse Prescribers, if prescribing is required as part of a treatment package
- Needle and syringe exchange and harm reduction advice
- Referral on to other agencies for support, advice and treatment
- Referral on to other agencies for family, friends and colleagues for support or counselling
- Education and training about drug and alcohol issues.
