The Dorset Speech and Language Therapy Service provides speech and language therapy for the residents of Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset and is managed by Bournemouth and Poole Primary Care Trust.
A service is provided to children aged from 0-16 in a wide range of locations, including Sturminster Newton Medical Centre.
Catherine Catterall, Speech and Language Therapist and Maggi Mather, Speech and Language Technical Instructor, run regular clinics at the surgery and provide a service to local schools and preschools.
Assessment, advice and treatment are offered to children experiencing difficulties with the development of a wide range of communication skills including, understanding and use of language, speech and sound development, fluency, voice and social communication skills. Referral for specialist advice on chewing and swallowing problems is also available.
